What is God’s Idea of Being Successful?

SUCCESS. In Napoleon Hill’s book in “Think and Grow Rich,” I paraphrase: “Before success comes in any man’s life, he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat, and perhaps, some failure. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit. That is exactly what the majority of most do. Success usually is just one step beyond the point at which defeat had overtaken them. Failure is a trickster with a keen sense of irony and cunning. It takes great delight in tripping one when success is almost within reach.” He went on to say success comes to those who become success conscious. Failure comes to those who indifferently allow themselves to become failure conscious.

If the things you wish to do are right and you truly believe in them, go ahead and do it! Go for your “dreams,” don’t worry about what “they” say if you have a temporary failure, because what “they” perhaps do not know is that every failure brings with it a start of an “equivalent” success.

Remember that all who eventually succeed in life usually get off to a bad start with many disappointments before they arrive to success. The key turning point in their lives comes at the moment of some crisis, they find a new beginning in themselves that may not have come out if it were not for the crisis.

The Lord knows what I need and what I can handle at any moment in my life. Which has given me more insight between wishing for a thing and being ready to receive it. No one is ready for a thing until he believes he can acquire it. The state of your mind must be belief, not merely hope or wish. Being open-minded is essential for belief. “Closed mindedness” does not inspire faith, courage and belief.

I have fully realized that no wealth or position can long endure, unless it is built upon truth and righteousness. Therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects. My success will come when I attract to myself the Lord’s guidance and the cooperation of other people. By eliminating hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, but instead developing love for all humanity, I have learned that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success. My faith will influence my thoughts and actions so that I will become a self-reliant person. It is because of His love, mercy, and grace in my life. It works not only for the glory of God but the success of mankind, if it is used constructively. On the other hand, if used destructively, it will destroy just as readily.
